COLLOQUIUM on CONTEMPORARY VOICES



PRESS NOTE

The two-day Colloquium on Contemporary Voices organized by the Chandigarh Sahitya Akademi

concluded today. The event brought together well-known names in the literary field.

Invited speakers from Delhi included Keki Daruwala, winner of the Sahitya Akademi and Commonwealth Poetry Awards; Sukrita Paul Kumar, a translator, poet and critic who teaches literature at Delhi University; Neeta Gupta, editor and publisher at Yatra Books; and Dr Prem Singh, scholar and critic of Hindi literature. There was also a session with the noted Punjabi playwright and poet, Surjit Patar, and with the eminent writer, Kashmiri

Lal Zakir. All the speakers invited by the CSA are writers in their respective fields.

Interacting with the invited speakers were eminent local scholars and writers including Atamjit, Mina Surjit Singh, Meera Malik, Sudhir Kumar, Rehana Parveen and Madhav Kaushik.


Separate time slots were ear-marked for the invited speakers to interact with the press.


The sessions were packed. Despite the fact that the organizers brought in extra chairs, a lot of people were seen standing in the hall. This was a multi-lingual event that aimed at bringing together writers, critics and lovers of literature. The Chandigarh Sahitya Akademi has been regularly holding such events which have been highly appreciated by residents of Chandigarh.
